Promoting the Energy Transition - Instruments and Technologies

The 7th Tunisian-German Energy Day on Nov. 29th 2017 was an opportunity to discuss energy policies in Germany and Tunisia, to promote the energy transition and marked an important milestone in the Tunisian-German Energy Partnership. The central topic of this edition was how to assure a sustainable energy transition in both countries, regarding the different obstacles that have to be considered.

The Secretariat of the Tunisian-German Energy Partnership, implemented by GIZ, organized the 7th Tunisian-German Energy Day on the theme of "Promoting the energy transition - Instruments and technologies" on November 29th, 2017. More than 180 people representing the public and private sectors as well as civil society attended the German-Tunisian Energy Day.

Now an established event, the German-Tunisian Energy Day constitutes the most important exchange platform available to decision-makers from the fields of politics, industry and science from both countries. The participants discussed topics like energy efficiency and grid integration of renewable energies. This high-profile event also gave Germany a platform on which to highlight its own energy policy topics and objectives.

Opening speeches were delivered by Mr. Khaled Kaddour, Tunisian Minister for Energy, Mines and Renewable Energies (MEMER), Mr Andreas Reinicke, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mr Wolfdieter Böhler, Director of International Energy Politics at the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy (BMWi) and Mrs. Afef Challouf, Director of Electricity and Renewable Energy at MEMER.

The conference was an opportunity to discuss energy policies in Germany and Tunisia or the latest cutting-edge energy transition topics, to promote the energy transition and marked an important milestone in the Tunisian-German Energy Partnership.
